showing pst categories on another page

There are a couple options, first creating custom menu for the categories you want like that, you can do under Appearance > Menus. Alternatively there are plugins like this (https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/list-category-posts/) to add shortcode to pages. Menus is better as it keeps theme settings.

For recent items on different pages use this widget: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/display-widgets/ to select what pages/categories you want a given widget to display in. And use one of the Recent Posts Widgets to customize each one you need.

What code do I need to add to my page so all posts in the category blog appear on it in the blog template and do not appear on the news page?

You should be able to add exclude=catid,catid, or include=catid if only one category in the index.php file.

You could also create a page for that category, so you don’t have to tweak any code and set that as your homepage under Settings > Reading

How did you do that, through custom menu?

No through Settings > Reading.

That mean you set a posts page, meaning it will use all posts. If you create a page that only displays one category, that would fix it or change the index.php settings.

I see so how do I set a page that only displays one category say ‘blog’ and one that displays another category say ‘news’?

Or change index.php settings. Some themes give you the option for the too, depending on the theme options panel.

Hi I have set that up but the posts in the blog category still appear in the news section as well and when you click on the story from the sidebar it takes you to 2010/12/ and out of the category template?
