Showing wrong language's categories in posts, not showing categories in dropdown

  • Hi, I’m using 1.7.2 with the latest WordPress. I have 2 languages enabled EN (default), CN. Have added a number of categories, that are defined for both languages.

    When I’m looking at the post list, most (but not all) the time in the Categories dropdown list only one language’s categories show (CN). When opening an post with EN as language, still CN categories show only, and if article is modified then, it will be saved as “Uncategorized” (effectively losing category information). Still, somehow refreshing the page shows the correct EN categories.

    Clearing Object/Transient caches seem to temporarily solve the problem, but it comes back later. If I disable the cache, there seem to be no problem. I’m on WP Engine.

    Sorry, it’s in the admin interface. Here are some screenshots, first with no cache or cache cleared, normal behavior. Then with caching only shows one language’s categories.

    The post editor in the admin is is also affected (posts also don’t show the their own language’s categories, always just one particular language’s).

    Let me know if there’s anything else I need to clarify! ??

    Did the problem exist in 1.6.5?
    I noticed a bug in 1.7.x which may be related to your issue. It is fixed in the development version (1.7.2.2). You may want to try it:

    I think 1.6.5 worked fine, no such problem.

    To try the development version from upload, I think I’d have to uninstall/reinstall the plugin, and can’t really do that with our live site, so will wait for the released update, thanks anyways!
