sibebar-1 is displaying when not called in 1.1

WordPress 4.4 and Twenty Sixteen 1.1.

I have created a child theme for Twenty Sixteen. In the child theme I have created a page template page-front.php and applied it to the home page.

The only sidebar that I call is get_sidebar(‘content-bottom’). I removed the default sidebar call. In Twenty Sixteen 1.0 only the content-bottom sidebars were showing on the home page. After the upgrade to Twenty Sixteen 1.1 the sidebar-1 content is showing under the ‘content-bottom’ on the home page. I cannot figure out how or why this is happening.
