Side bar of WordPress missing descriptions

I’m new to WordPress and the text describing the little pictures near the side (like posts, pages, tools, etc.) is missing.

This is probably something I could live without (I realized this while writing this post) but if anyone knows how to restore this text it would be helpful.

I searched for this and came up with little cause I didn’t know what to call it (not toolbar sidebar or admin bar).

Any help appreciated.
