• I have the Twenty Ten theme running 3.2.1. The content for widgets, links, etc on all pages other than my HOME page are NOT displaying my sidebar information starting at the top of the 2nd column beside the content in the main column. The content is pushed (appearing) down the page at the end of the main column content.

All pages are set to use the default template. And before updates the content was displaying correctly from top of 2nd column.

  • does the html of these pages validate?
    https://validator.w3.org/

if not, this might be the reason.

more is difficult to say about this issue, without seeing the issue live.

can you post a link to your site, pointing to one of the pages with the problem?

Alchymyth — Thanks here is the link to one of the pages not displaying sidebar correctly: https://www.karendrinkardskincare.com/anti-age-regimen

You will see that at the top of page the is nothing appearing in sidebar and if you scroll down the links and other sidebar info do not appear until the end of posted page material in the left hand main column.

If you go to the Home page, you will see the sidebar material begins properly at the top of page along side the main column material.

I will see if I can figure out the validator. I can only say that it all used to be working just fine. I have another site at stevedrinkard.com and it is fine.

I just ran the validator and it gave me a host of errors which I wll attempt to undderstand and correct. I am not a coder but most of the errors noted seem to provide the correcting information. What I don’t understand is how and why this has happened on what was formerly a properly displaying site?

It appears that a some of the coding issues relate to copied and insert Youtube iframe embeds for video. This would be code that I copied from Youtube so I am wondering if they have some issue with how they are coding for html5.

Alchymyth — If you know of any easy fix, please let me know. I have looked at the Validation list of errors and gone to the existing code only to find out that I still don’t know what to do to fix the situation.

it is possibly caused by one of your social bookmarking plugins –

there is a broken html link closing tag in the code:

    .......
    Ds=" alt=savetheurl></a</div>

    a:
    try to deactivate the social bookmarking plugin, and see what changes;

if that solves the problem, can you post the name and link to the bookmarking plugin here?

    Thread Starter stevedrinkard

    (@stevedrinkard)

I just created a new page on the site here: https://www.karendrinkardskincare.com/unblemish-regimen

I just posted a photo upload using the “visual” mode and published the page to see if it did the same thing with the sidebar material and it did. So, I am just not sure the validation issue above has much to do with this since presumably the wordpress visual mode would post using the right code to get its own theme and software to post correctly.

So I remain puzzled and without resolution.

    (@stevedrinkard)

I deactivated several plugins one of which was a social bookmarking plugin. I deactivated 6 all total and after each deactivation check the pages to see if there was any resolutions. I have not deleted the Facebook widgets that are on the sidebar. Nothing appeared to change. I have left all of those deactivated.

the last added page (/unblemish-regimen) is fine – sidebar on the side (no social bookmarks in that page)

    problem persist with (/anti-age-regimen)
    (with the social bookmarks)

can you post the name of the social bookmark plugin?
(the one that makes the line starting with share: )

    btw:
the problem only shows in IE (IE7)

    Thread Starter stevedrinkard

    (@stevedrinkard)

The name (I think that is the one) is Super Bookmarking. I have been viewing on Safari which still has the problem on the Unblemish page. Since you mentioned IE, I opened Firefox and it appears that all pages on that browser show the sidebar correctly. I never thought about it being a browser issue for gosh sakes.

    Thread Starter stevedrinkard

    (@stevedrinkard)

I was wrong on Firefox. All the pages are correct except the Anti-Age Regimen page. The pages on Firefox that are correct are minus the FB badge widget which I did go in and delete but I don’t know why it is still showing on the screwed up Anti-Age page.

The problems in the Anti-Age page are page-specific. There are quite few markup errors on the page.

    Thread Starter stevedrinkard

    (@stevedrinkard)

I logged off the site as administrator on Safari and then reopened to the site. Now it is consistent with what Firefox is doing with the pages as described above. I think the FaceBook badge has something to do with it since the Anti-Age page is the only one still showing the badge while the others do not. It makes no sense to me that it is still showing on the Anti-Age page since I remove the text code from the widget section that applies the site???

can you disable the plugin ‘Simple Bookmarking’ ?

and then press ‘CTRL F5’ to clear the browser cache to make sure that you get to see the changes.
