    Hi,

Yes I am aware of the searach and have attempted, as I believe, to try all the solutions but so far zilch.

https://www.ultimatedallas.com/dallasnews Everything works fine in Firefox and IE7 – but on IE6 sidebar is at the boottom

    Trying the validator I get:

Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 290, 294, 298 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). Please check both the content of the file and the character encoding indication.

*sigh* Any help would be appreciated.

    Write down those line #s.
Then in the encoding field instead of detect automatically, “force” it to iso-6659-1 (Western)
Check the Show Source box and Revalidate
Go to the lines you have in your notes… and see what are the faulty characters.
    Remove them.

Thanks , tried that but the lines 290, 294, 298 do not show up as a problem when going down that route. Strange.

But loads of other things appeared *sigh* and it was all working so well just 2 days back. Infact its showing 206 errors.

Maybe not for you, but they definitely do for the validator. All those links in the rss feeds are NEVER valid code!

And for the initial problem if searched you probably read about “wide” stuff in sidebar or content. Also, in many replies it has been mentioned “wider” can be anything: a pic, a long code, long link…

Yes I have searched and I have been trying to resolve this all day. I can’t seem to find a solution.

If ‘wide’ stuff can mean anything, does that mean with WordPress everytime you write a new article, add photos and Urls, you could loose the side bar based on any number of things that are too long.

Is there any information anywhere as to what constitutes ‘too long’.

The only way now is for me to delete all the articles and see if that fixes it and then add them all again ?
