• G`day,

Since the past 4 days i have had my sidebar appear at the bottom of all my single posts when logged out but when logged in some posts have the sidebar on the correct right position. First day when i noticed this issue i thought the sidebar had disappeared, i only managed to see that they`re now at the bottom on the 2nd day.

I then searched for a remedy here and i tried to search for any tags <div> in any of my recent post – didnt find any. I wasnt aware of the copying and pasting issue since i just took over and the person also was doing the same – writing articles in word then paste them directly to the site editor and publish.

I also checked the “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” box which was unchecked, hoping it`ll fix the problem but did not. I have tried running the site through the validator and there are a number of errors showing but i am clueless to pin pointing the culprit. Today is the 4th day and i have stopped publishing articles cause i am afraid if there is an article(s) i posted recently is responsible i might end up burying it too deep.

Please if anyone can assist me in solving this I`ll be more than grateful.

    My site: https://www.zimbabwemetro.com

    Regards,

    Donell.

    Hi Esmi,

Thanks for the quick response. Since i am entirely new to all this website jargon most things will go right over my head, please do forgive my ignorance. When you mention markup errors are these caused by me simply copying from MS.word and does this mean the problem is not caused by any recent articles i published?

I`ll go through the link you provided and try to figure out or rather rectify the issue. Many thanks.

    Donell.

are these caused by me simply copying from MS.word

That could well create all kinds of problems. Don’t paste content from Microsoft Word into WordPress as the pasted text will also contain Word’s own formatting. Sooner or later, this formatting will stop your pages from being displayed correctly (if at all) in Internet Explorer. If you cannot possibly manage without Word, paste your text into NotePad (or another text editor) first, then copy from NotePad into WordPress.

    Or use Windows LiveWriter.

Thanks again Esmi for the tips.
I have tried running the site through the numerous validators and i have no idea which errors are causing the sidebar issue and how to fix any of those errors. If i retrace to the posts i made when i started noticing the problem and remove them assuming the problem was caused by one of them will this fix the issue?
I am basically, at wits end now and definitely now i know NEVER copy and paste from MS.Word.

Anyone willing to assist me in getting this solved i can open a new account for you and see if the issue is solvable. my email emd710g(at)hotmail.com

I finally managed to troubleshoot the problem. Inside the single.php there was something missing not sure exactly what it was. I got a new download of the entire theme and copied the single.php text from the download and everything was back to normal.

However, i still am going ahead with fixing some of my posts and doing some housekeeping at the same time.

    Thanks.
