Sidebar Custom & Links

I’m new to blogging and am using the K2 theme currently for my site. I had a few questions about my blog located here.

1.I am trying to edit the sidebars so that the gray color extends the width of the column. I notice that the right sidebar is not the width of the end of the banner there, thus leaving the white section visible. If I can get the right sidebar widened to erase that white element it would be a nice start.

2.Also, I want the gray on either side to extend down the page so that it borders the blue and only leaves the content section white.

3.I know how to embed YouTube vids, however I want to know how to add links to results, for example, next to an individual Full story link. The links will vary from race to race, linking to photos, standings, etc. Therefore, I cannot just edit the template like I did to insert the checkered flag logo.
