• Hi I was playing around with adding sidebars to a theme and created a new one, added some widgets to it then i deleted it. It was only really basic sidebar 1 and sidebar 2… however I didn’t deactivate teh widgets when i deleted the second sidebar. Now when i upload it again to see if i can deactivate it, i can’t see the widgets. So i deleted this again and only have one sidebar, however now the widgets that were activated in this 2nd bar still say they are active and the “add” button option is not beside the widget. Is there anyway to deactivate the widgets? I have already tried to deactivate teh plugin the widgets belong to however upon activation of the plugin they are still showing as active… any ideas?? anyway to do this perhaps in PHPMyAdmin?

  • Hi

Widgetized sidebars are declared in your theme’s functions.php file See if you need to make a code change in that file

its ok I resolved this through PHPmyAdmin

under wp_options > Browse > then look for “sidebars_widget” I found it on pg 4. and i just deleted everything within the option value and it worked!

I had the orginal function.php file however this wasn’t changing the database info so this worked well
