Hey everyone, I’ve spent hours trying to figure this out reading through all kinds of support docs. Anyways, as you can see on this page.. https://istarswireless.com/?page_id=25 The sidebars is stretched out and messes up the contact form. The sidebar was never even on that page in the beginning, but after I accidentally deleted a few lines of code from the registration and contact form in the xmarket (theme I’m using) settings, it suddenly appeared and messed up the site. I’m probably the biggest newbie in the forums so I’d appreciate a very simple solution. Either way, I appreciate the help!

[Per the Forum welcome we ask you NOT bump posts. We use the ‘no replies’ search on these forums regularly to find people who still need help. By bumping, you remove yourself from that list and make it HARDER for us to find you!]

  • Do you have a backup of your site? OR have you asked the developer of your theme for help with this? Since that’s a commercial theme, that’d be the best place to ask – as we don’t have access to those themes, and don’t know how they are set up.

Unfortunately no :/ The site was created by my cousin in palestine and he purchased the theme so it’ll be hard to go through that route (last resort). Is there any way i can just put the stock code in and basically start putting my info in again or does it not work that way?

The problem is that we don’t have access to that theme – and there is no other “stock code” – things like this are theme-specific. That page does show some mark-up errors – which are likely related to the problems –

Have you checked as to whether your hosting company has a backup?

No but I’ll check today, thanks for your help man. So there’s no quick fix for this one? How about switching themes? But would I lose the setup and data that’s already on the site?

No quick fix that I can see, sorry. If the code you changed was part of the theme code (vs. your content), yes, switching themes would likely fix the problem. But you’d need to set up a new theme, yes. Your content isn’t changed or lost, but you’d probably have to redo some things. You can always try it and see – switch back if you’re not happy with a new theme.

But I’d still suggest you make a complete backup of your site at this point before doing any further changes…

It was part of theme settings. I got a fresh copy of the theme zip and checked through some of the file codes and compared them but they look fine, weird? Anyways, i exported a backup file and it’s a 1.4 mb .xml file. Is that a normal size for a backup of whole site? Also how would i go about restoring this backup if i mess something else up? Sorry for all these Q’s lol.

Hey, i finally got the sidebar to go away. Now all i have to figure out is how to widen the content to fill the gap left from the sidebar. I’m start another thread about that though, so thanks for all your help!
