• Hi there,

I’ve recently moved to self hosted with a mystique theme, it has been fine up till now and suddenly over the last 2 days my sidebar widgets have disappeared. I can still see them in the admin dashboard but they aren’t appearing on the site itself.
Any ideas? I’ve tried deactivating plugins and reactivating and playing with the page width but to no avail so far.

Can anyone tell me how I could fix this?

-have you tried switching to the unedited default theme (Twenty Eleven) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

Hi t-p, I’m a bit of a novice with the coding etc, so do I just go into wp-content/themes and rename it Twenty Eleven?

-You can manage your themes in admin-appearance-themes

-Or, access your server via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

Sorted it now thanks t-p, turns out the sidebar had moved to the bottom of the page due to some html code but I’ve managed to get it back to where it should be. Thx for taking time to reply

Any chance you could say which bit of HTML was causing that, please? I’ve suddenly got the same problem! Thanks.

Generally, that means there are mark-up errors on the site — which you can track down using the Validator:

It’s unlikely that your errors would be the same as hers.
