    Hi, all,

I had some custom content (links to social media) that were simple html in my sidebar.php file. I’ve upgraded, and now the html has disappeared from the sidebar.php file, but the links are still present on my blog! I need to edit them, and I can’t. A few similar posts suggested looking in the widgets.php file, but it wasn’t there either. Any ideas?

    Cindy

  • Hi,

-> Disable all the plugins and enable it one by one to find out the culprit.
-> Also change the theme to default and have a check

    Thanks,

    Thanks, Shane!

Do you (or anyone) know where the posts are filed in WP files? I ask because I’m actually using an edited version of the default theme, so I can’t “change it back” without overwriting the whole default theme folder. I don’t want to overwrite any front-end content on accident.

    Within the database.

Never customise the default theme. Make a copy of that theme, change it’s name in style.css, rename the copied theme folder to something like mydefault and then upload it as a completely new theme. That way your changes won’t be over-written when you upgrade.

Your only option now is to re-customise the sidebar on a copy of the default theme.

Edit: Ah, there’s a huge links tab in my control panel. I’m a moron. Thanks all!
