Sidebar questions: List selected pages etc.

  • I am using verson 2.9.2

    (1) I have just begun using WordPress and is looking for a way to display selected pages on the vertical sidebar instead of along the top menu. I have set up a horizontal menu for pages, but would like to have some pages listed on the vertial sidebar but not the menu. Is there a way to do this?

    (2) I would also like to put an image on the sidebar and link it to a page in the website. Again, is there a way to do this?

    I see that there are a lot of plugins and widgets that I can look through but if someone can give me a head start, I am grateful as that’s the only thing I am strugling with!

  • 1. See the include and exclude parameters for wp_list_pages

    2. You could simply edit the theme’s sidebar template file and add the image+link manually. Or, if the sidebar is widget-ready, use a Text widget.
