Sidebar Quick Update Plugin?

    Hi all,

    For my site, main news is posted in a rather large segment, positioned to the left and center of the page. For news that isn’t so significant, I would like to have a ‘quick update’ style box in the sidebar, or somewhere else on the site, which would display a sentence or two and maybe a link relevant to the story.

    Hopefully you can help me find what I’m looking for.
