• For some reason, when viewed in Internet Explorer, the text in my sidebars on the main page no longer follows the formatting set in my stylesheet. It’s displayed in a different font (Ariel, I think, when it should be Times New Roman) and larger size (13 rather than 10).

The same sidebar text is formatted correctly on all other pages (“About me”, “Project Page”, etc.).

Just to clarify, this is the sidebar text for the Recent Comments section, all of the links, the Deadlines section, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas what might have caused this and how I could remedy it? I just upgraded WordPress from 1.5, but that seems like it shouldn’t be the cause.

    The site is at: https://www.screenwritinglife.com.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • It might work better if you fix the errors in validation. See https://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.screenwritinglife.com.%2F. It’s a pain, but once you get things corrected, you’ll have fewer problems, I’d guess. ??

I would love to get the code validated. Here’s the thing: I was so clueless about blogs when I started that it never occurred to me that I would have to learn how to write code in order to blog. I’ve tried to figure out how this stuff works, but since I was starting with no knowledge at all (I had literally never seen a single line of code before last year), I’m pretty damned clueless.

Would anyone out there be willing to take on the job for pay? I could really use a consultant. If so, please drop me a line ([email protected]). I could definitely use your expertise.

    Thanks!

Okay, I bit the bullet, stopped whining, got an enormous book on Mastering XHTML, and fixed the 72 validation errors on the site over the weekend. It now passes validation.

Thanks to everyone who offerred to help, but it turned out to be easier than I thought, just very time consuming.

    I have a similar problem https://www.johnwade.ca/blog_outdoors/
I checked on validator and found one error however which of the theme portions do I find the code referred to. I’ve done cut and pastes and then searches without success. It doesn’t matter whether firefox or explorer sidebar for main page differs from all others.

I’ve resolved this issue. There was something in one post only and when that post appeared it balled up the sidebar. I just reentered the post and reduced the other to draft and it’s fixed. Sorry to take up your time. I did discover that the word solid is misspelled in the code of blue horizon. Doesn’t seem to make a difference, fixed it anyway.
