Sidebar Tweaking

I want to know if there’s a way to eliminate the sidebar on all portfolio pages, but keep it on all the normal pages. I set up a portfolio homepage, and it doesn’t have a sidebar and it looks great. I also have it so my other static pages and blog have a sidebar. So far so good, but the problem is that if I click on a category, it brings me to a page with the portfolio grid layout, but it has a sidebar, which distracts from the images. The problem is that the categories aren’t an actual page, so I don’t know how to modify them.
