I’ve just upgraded to 2.7 and my sidebar vanished. Oddly enough, it is present on individual post pages, just not when I’m on the home page (index).

Any idea what happened and how a newb can fix it?

I got help with this outside of this forum. This topic is not resolved.

I have the same problem: the sidebar dissapeared once i upgraded to wp 2.7. It’s not visible anywhere, nor in the dashboard or in write-post or other places. So i cannot navigate or modify nothing, although i’m so excited with the 2.7 features..
Please, i need help, thanks in advance.

PS: Tranny, if you can help please do it, i’m tottaly lost.
    (Sorry for my english)

Well, i think my problem is still here, so this topic is not yet resolved. Anyone, any suggestion?

If you have a plugin that effects the admin area (like drop down boxes for the “manage”, “settings”, etc.) then you need to delete that from the directory before the sidebar will show up. That was my problem.

I had to disable my fluency admin plugin to get my dashboard sidebars back.

Well, I am completely screwed after installing 2.7.

Because the left sidebar has vanished (which contained all the admin buttons) the only option I have is to create a new post (as it is situated on the grey header bar).

I can’t access plugin page, or the rest of the admin section. I have tried Safari, Webkit, Firefox, none of them allow me to access the sidebar.

Why oh why do I bother upgrading when every thing works perfectly.

I wish they’d thoroughly test releases such as this one before releasing them.

Can soneone tell me what the address is for the plugins page so that I can attempt to go there manually and disable all my plugins?

Otherwise I am going to have to go back to the previous verison.

Option one: Try https://yoursite.com/wp-admin/plugins.php and see if you can disable them.

Option two: Use your ftp client to navigate to wp-content, rename the plugins folder to plugins_old and create a new empty plugins folder. That should get you up and running so you can then copy your plugins back from plugins_old one at a time to see which one is the problem.

Chances are that a dashboard altering plugin is causing the problem.

Try www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/plugins.php – disable the plugins one by one. I had to do that before i get my admin-bar back. It should work.

Yes, thanks constanta. I discovered that ithe address was saved in my browser’s address bar. I also found this replacement for the ‘lighter admin drop down menu’ plugin:

    ozh-admin-drop-down-menu

    Fixed.
