Sidebar widgent – recent comments

If it’s not in your functions.php, then it’s the default widget that comes with WP. As the widget code is located in a core file, I wouldn’t edit it. You could use the the code (located at wp-includes/default-widgets.php) and create your own widget customized to your tastes.

ok, that helped! i am not familiar enough with building a widget just yet. in the meantime i found a widget and edited it but the css is not exactly right and i wish to have show the number of comments, but a step in the right direction.

i will try your suggestion tomorrow or the next day and see if i can figure it out. thank you!

found the widget QUOTED RECENT COMMENTS and modified the widget within the plugin admin menu. it looks great. only thing to figure out is how to add the COUNT after each comment and eliminate duplicates and simply show last five unique recent comments with counts.

it works great ! thank you so much. check it out. note: the recent comment with the ” –> on ” is a pingback, not a comment. not sure what to do with this. would i keep comments only or comments and pingback ?

i tried another plugin = GD simple widgets and they had a admin toggle that gave you an option for the above.
