    Hello,

My client’s site, peedeepost.com, is using your plugin and had set up several custom sidebars for their categories. With the latest update, their sidebars are there, however, they are not showing for any of the categories. This is an urgent fix! Please let me know what we have to do to fix this issue. And yes, it has a replaceable Sidebar.

    Thanks!

  • I have the same problem, unfortunately only the main sidebar is shown everywhere, we had several other sidebars for different categories, they are all replaced with the main side bar. And when I create an new sidebar, I can not link a category or author for it, neither for the older sidebars.

we are running 2.0.9.9 on wordpress 4.0

    Really hope you can help.
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

YUP! Me too. Any update on this??? Glad to know it’s not just me.

Being that this issue was first reported 4 days ago… and being that I’m used to Expression Engine developers who *ah hem* at least respond, but actually fix issues with their plugins, I’m going to assume this plugin has been abandoned and forced to seek out other plugins with hopefully better support.

    *UPDATE*

I managed to find older versions of the plugin (2.0.7 and 2.0.9.7) within my backups. The ads are back at least for the sidebars that were created originally and I can create new ones, however they still do not work properly.
    I’ve tried both versions:
2.0.7 will let me create a sidebar, but won’t give me the choices to locate the sidebar.
2.0.9.7 will allow me to do all the above, but the ads will not show up.
PLEASE HELP! This is a big deal for my client. It’s how he earns money.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.

I have tested it on my test site using latest version of custom sidebar plugin and found the custom sidebar is getting displayed on category archieve pages and als on single post page having the particular category.

Could you please tell me a bit more detail about the issue( Share screenshots of it if you can ) so that i can reproduce and troubleshoot it?

For screenshots, you can simply provide a link to an image through Google Drive, Dropbox, screencast.com, https://imgur.com/ or other image service. ??

In the meanwhile you can temporary download and use older working version of custom sidebar plugin from the following page.

    Hello!

Oddly over the weekend, the plugin started working, though partially. The ads are showing up and on the pages/posts they were designated, however, I create a test ad, setting it to be on the post and the category archive for that particular category. It shows up on the post, but not the archive?

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi @hr_web,

Thanks for those! To help get an idea for how it should look, could you please provide screenshots of the settings for each? The single and category archive settings (just one screenshot if both can fit).

Also, do you have other category-based sidebars? If you have more than one category sidebar, it could be that one is taking precedence.

Looking forward to your reply. ??

    Cheers,
    David

    Hello David!

Thanks for your reply. Here is the screengrab you requested:

As for the other category-based sidebars, I have several categories and sidebars set up for each. The sidebar it is to replace is the main sidebar for the theme.

Thanks again for the help! Looking forward to working with you.

    Hi @hr_web,

Thanks for that screenshot! Could you please try switching to Twenty Fourteen theme momentarily to see how it works with that?

It’ll help us to rule out a theme conflict.

Also, since you mentioned previously that it suddenly started working partially, do you have any caching in place? Perhaps what you’re seeing is due to caching, maybe just on select urls?

Could you maybe try deactivating other plugins and/or turning off any caching to see if that’s the case?

    Cheers,
    David

    Hello David,

When the problem first occurred, I switched the theme to 2013 and it didn’t work like it did with the theme I am using.

They had a caching plugin in place, but I deactivated it because it was running too much conflict with the plugins and operation of the site. If I remember correctly, it was an out-of-date plugin.

And I did the deactivating/reactivating of plugins and no change.

Currently on my employer’s site, we’ve had the same issues when we update to the latest version. We’re running v 2.0.9.7 right now since it works. It won’t update when we do our regular updates; it keeps wanting to pull in the PRO version. Not sure why it’s doing that, but not going to complain since it’s working. We just like to keep everything up-to-date for security purposes.

    Thanks!
