Today I updated to WP 6.5.1 (i think from 4.4.5). I did not change anything else.

Now all my sidebars vanished. I can still see them in the backend, nothing seems to have changed there, but they are just not showing on the site. I’m using PinBoard Theme, which worked fine so far.

    Please help! Thanks in Advance!

    Regards, Kenny

  • Hey Kenny,

    How are you doing today?

I’ve tested latest version of Custom Sidebars with WordPress 4.6.1 which is the latest version of WordPress (I’m assuming this is what you meant when you said 6.5.1) and I didn’t run into any issues, sidebars were properly displayed.

This means something else is most likely conflicting with new version of WordPress. In order to test that you’d have to perform a plugin conflict test, to do that please try using one of the default WordPress themes like Twenty Fifteen and deactivating all other plugins as displayed in the following flowchart to know which theme/plugin is conflicting if any.

Let me know how that goes ??

    Hi there,

No, Kenny is right, here the same. WordPress is updated to 4.6.1 and the custom sidebars on the site are gone.
In the backend they are still there.
Please come with an update to fix this.

    Regards,
    Erik

Hello @erikn, I trust you are doing well.

I’ve tested the CursePress plugin with latest WordPress version and the custom sidebars are appearing normally.

Can you replicate the issue with a default WordPress theme and all other plugins deactivated?

Please, per support forum regulations create your own thread and post all the information there.

    Cheers,
    Nastia

    Hello @erikn,

I’ve tested the CoursePress plugin with latest WordPress

Please accept my apologies, I meant that I tested the Custom Sidebars plugin with the latest WordPress version 4.6.1.

    Kind regards,
    Nastia

    Hi Nastia and Bojan,

while deactivating all other plugins didn’t have any effect, I noticed that changing the theme does something. I mean at first I tried two other themes and when also no sidebar was showing, I gave up. But later then, I tried some more themes and suddenly with one of them: there was a sidebar again! Strange! It seems like your plugin has a problem with more than just my theme, I suppose Erik uses some other theme as well and has the same issue.

My theme is “Pinboard” by the way. Could you guys please try your plugin with that theme?

    Thanks, Kenny

    Hello @kenny12345

I tested the plugin with the Pinboard theme and it’s working.

The Pinboards theme has several Sidebars, make sure that in Appearance > Widget, Under the Themes Sidebars table you have checked the option “Allow this sidebar to be replaced” on each sidebar.

Let us know how it went.

    Cheers,
    Nastia

    Hi Nastia,

I finally found the problem, and now I just wonder why I didn’t find it the first time… anyway:

There must be an incompatibilty with your Plugin and YOAST SEO plugin. Activating YOAST makes all my sidebars disappear. So for now it stays deactivated until the next update of one of the two plugins is due. Then I will try again. Happy everthing is back to normal. Thanks for the support!

    Kenny

the “allow this sidebar to be replaced” check, also worked for me.
Thank you also from my side for the support.

    Best regards,
    Erik
