I’m using MailPoet on two websites but have fewer than 500 subscribers on either website’s newsletter, so I’m using the free version of MailPoet Premium on both websites.

There are no questions showing that need to be answered, so I am guessing that the email address sending the messages needs to be authorized.

The send method we use is the default wordpress default sending method (set up under the Advanced tab) because there was a problem where either WordPress or the plugin itself has a vulnerability where bots can send spam emails. Apparently there was such a high frequency that the newsletter got suspended or something (forgive me, it was a few years ago). There is no way for me to prevent these spam bots invading and using mailPoet inappropriately.

So the send method is the wordpress default. I’ve tested switching to the MailPoet sending method but couldn’t use the sign-up form that way either. I went through the settings again and made sure my web host (GoDaddy) was selected in the configuration section of the Send With page. I tried to send a test mail to two different email addresses and never received the messages.

I’m fresh out of options and probably because of the spam bot issue, which is not my fault! I don’t know what to do because this is the only newsletter service we want to use and now we can’t! I don’t want to use some random service that brands itself all over the emails and have all their own problems. MailPoet was the perfect solution. If I can’t get help then I can’t have a newsletter on either website I run. And all because of something I have ZERO CONTROL OVER!

I need to hear from a tech support agent before I run off and write a review over your spam bot issue where some exploit allows bots to send emails. I mean REALLY this should’ve never been denied to me in the first place over a problem I cannot do anything about.

Please help! I read on your site that you’re not even obligated to provide support to free users (uhmmm… ???) but I really think you should actually help me with this! PLEASE, PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE!

    Hi @starwing6,

We’re happy to help you with that.

Apparently there was such a high frequency that the newsletter got suspended or something (forgive me, it was a few years ago). There is no way for me to prevent these spam bots invading and using mailPoet inappropriately.

If you have unprotected forms, you may get fake sign-ups and bots abusing these forms. If you’re sending all transactional emails with our sending service, emails sent to these fake sign-ups will bounce back, and it will affect your account’s reputation. I believe that’s what happened.

You can read more about it here: https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/384-preventing-deliverability-issues-caused-by-transactional-emails

I’m checking your account right now, and I can confirm sending is not suspended for you.

I’ve tried to subscribe to your form at https://www.starwingdigital.com/thefairattempts/newsletter/ and I got the error “An error has happened while performing a request, please try again later.”.

It could be that you have ModSecurity enabled and it’s blocking the requests coming from our form. In this case, we recommend contacting your hosting support to see if ModSecruity is enabled and if you can disable it for the page where the form is placed.

Please let me know if it works!
