We manage the site and webinars for one of our clients and use Gotowebinar and the WP plugin on their website.

These webinars are free, and everyone can join, but due to the specific nature of the subjects discussed, so probebly 90%+ of the participants come directly from the invitations send out via the newsletters. Were we place a direct link to the signup page of that webinar.

But if the webinar is done, the form stays active and you can still sign up for a webinar that has already been held. This is odd, I would expect the page to show that you can’t sign up any more as the date lies in the past.

Is this an option I’m missing somewere or is this just how the plugin works?

    Hi @ximie90,

This is the expected behaviour, although I haven’t fully tested this kind of scenario.

Typically people use the table or calendar shortcode to display a list of upcoming webinars. When old webinars pass the table updates automatically so this in a sense prevents people registering for old webinars.

However if you create registration forms ad hoc or give people direct links to webinar registration form pages this then bypasses this automatic expiry process so it will still show the form. However it’s my understanding that you can’t actually register for the webinar it will just show an error? Is this something you can confirm?

I have left the registration form to show as oppose to some kind of PHP error. But what I would put back onto you is, why would people visit an old link if the webinar is over? Or register for a webinar when they can see the time is in the past?

There is a shortcode which displays a registration form for the most upcoming webinar as well which is: [gotowebinar-reg key=”upcoming”] a lot of people use this shortcode to display a dynamic registration form and then give out that link and that way they also don’t need to change links all the time as well – maybe this addresses the issue from another angle perhaps? Teh cool thing about that shortcode is that it can be used with all the usual include, exclude, timezone parameters as well.

    Hi @northernbeacheswebsites

You can still register, if you do the following text shows:

“Thanks test. You have successfully registered for: Webinar: *******. At 20:00 CET on the 20/2/2018 you can use this link: https://global.gotowebinar.com/join/***/*** to join the webinar. An email has been sent to: **@**.nl to confirm your registration.”

And I just logged in to gotowebinar, the registration is also accepted there and I’m now a registrant for this particular webinar.

The link can still be clicked from the newsletter, and since the newsletters are also posted on the website, the direct link will also be active there.

The registration page should stay alive, but it seems weird that there is no check on date to either show the form, or show a message saying that the webinar is no longer available. -> or even after you submit the form that it shows that this is no longer available would be better. Now it just says that all went well.
