Simple and just works.

This provides an essential function that really should be baked into WordPress. Linking to the “media” is only ever done to enlarge the image. People only want to see it larger — not navigate away to different page. This plugin even makes old posts work better.

The one thing I’d complain about is that the plugin name as it appears in the Plugins screen of the dashboard, is very different from the official plugin name (currently it reads “Gallery & Image Block Lightbox”) and I had trouble finding it in my long list of plugins because I was looking for it in the “L”s.
