Hello! First of all, I would like to thank You very much for great work you doing! Really appreciate this nice plugin. Although I would like to suggest few ideas how it might be improved.
    1) Adding customisation to plugin. I think everyone would appreciate being able to set the timer themselves or completely switch it off.
For example, I allow to comment only users that are logged in, so I don’t even need the timer at all.
    2) We really need to get that delete button next to Edit… It’s just simple, easy and NATURAL. Example: I have only READ rights with no access to dashboard. I post a comment. next day I realise, the comment doesn’t make any sense – I need to delete it asap. I log in, find the comment, press delete. Done.
    3) I really don’t get why, after I posted a comment while logged in, I can still edit it after I logged out? Is this bases on IP? Cookie? What if someone else sits on same network or PC? That need to be addressed as well.

I hope these suggestions finds You well, and thank again very much! ??

    1) this plugin will never have a settings panel, but it has a ton of filters, so you can do basically anything you want to do that would normally require a settings panel, and some things you can do without

    2. Okay, added ?? – If I get a lot of flack for it, it’s coming back out though.

    3. Was because the user still had a cookie. This behavior has been removed.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Now leave a review! ??

Hello again. ?? First of all, the delete button you added is the one after pressing “Click to edit”? No way you could make it next to the “Click to edit”? Actually you could make “Click to Edit” just “Edit”, but I guess that can be solved with translation.

I have bigger issues though. This plugin is cousing my website to act strangely. Maybe it just doesn’t work right with my theme and plugin combination.
I noticed that when I press comment when plugin is on, it makes the screen scroll automatically down for some reason.
Also when I press on post at home page “read more” it opens the post, but disconnects the user from being logged in ?? Its really weird. And it seems to work ok after i restarted the plugin.
One more think i notices. I posted a comment, logged out. It did not show the timer – good. i logged back in, went to see comment – the timer was still working. although jut before it seemed that it doesnt work anymore (no idea why it is so diverse). Now i waited till the timer expired, then i press on some other page, like EVENTS,then home – post, and here you go, once again i have minute and a half on same comment! ?? Do that again, and it adds more time! ?? Strange…

Any thoughts on that, my friend? ??

ADD: I’m looking for plugin that could just allow any user to edit and delete their comments on the spot. I cant believe that this is the closest our community got to having that kind of plugin? ?? This is all we have?? unbelievable. You are cornering the market if you make this plugin right,

All those sound like insanely strange behavior.

The timer has been corrected for accuracy, so it’s about as accurate as it can get at the moment.

The timer fluctuations, I’ve never seen it or been able to duplicate it. So strange.

I’m very sorry I can’t get the plugin to exactly your specs. The ‘delete’ button is exactly where I think it should be. I don’t want anybody to accidentally delete their comment when they mean just to edit and have clicked the wrong button.

I’m not trying to nay say, I appreciate the feedback. But at some point, just fork the plugin, change a few things around, and submit it to the repo or host it on a private github.

Plugin development takes a ton of time, which I don’t mind because I enjoy coding and consider this plugin my baby. But this is my plugin first ??

But I will say this, after developing a comment editing plugin for WordPress since 2007… you’ll never ever be able to please everyone.

I get that, but those issues that I mentioned are quite important.

    (@ronalfy)

Yes, not a problem at all.

I’m tracking this in a GitHub Ticket (https://github.com/ronalfy/simple-comment-editing/issues/12), but as stated, have not been able to duplicate this at all, on local, dev, prod, or even on sites that have said they had the problem.

Still trying though! I’m of the opinion if one person is having this issue, then many others are too.

So stay tuned. I will fix this. Just a matter of being able to duplicate it in a fashion where I can modify code.

If you would like I could create a user for you to try it on my website. As it’s still in development stage.

Hey! Thanks for great update! Now it seems that timing is working well. i can start using it. ?? Just let You know, the weird scrolling issues is still there. After you post a comment the page wiggles a little, scrolls down and up a small distanance, and makes it difficult to scroll up, but that takes only 1-2 seconds. I tried on Safari and Firefox on Mac.
If you could take a look, you would be golden!

    Thanks again! ??

The scrolling is something I added as another feature request because the timer was adding extra stuff to the page header and the hash would go to the wrong place.

I think a solution will be to just make the animation instant instead of gradual.

I imagine the users are getting update fatigue, so I’ll hold off until the weekend to push out a fix.

Hello! I think we all are fine ?? I’ve seen plugins updated every few hours. We all appreciate the well made updates.
Yeah, that scrolling is no good…

I translated this plugin to Lithuanian (it’s only few lines? really?), how can i upload the translation? ??
    Thanks man!

    Plugin Author Ronald Huereca

    (@ronalfy)

    Sure. Translations are very welcome!

I host them here until WordPress Translate takes over them.

If you request access, I’ll approve you and then you can update your translation.

I uploaded the translation at that website. i don’t really see any save button, so I just leave it as it is. I hope it gets automatically submitted to you.

    Plugin Author Ronald Huereca

    (@ronalfy)

    Thanks, I got the translation.

I have a Portuguese one that was updated recently too, so I’ll just push out an update tonight/tomorrow if the scroll thing works out.

    Plugin Author Ronald Huereca

    (@ronalfy)

I just released 1.8.5 with the scroll fix and your translation.

Can we end this thread and start a new one for any remaining issues? For some reason I’m not getting e-mail notifications anymore on this one.

Also, if you’re on GitHub, feel free to map any issues out: https://github.com/ronalfy/simple-comment-editing/issues

    Thanks a bunch!
