    I created a simple form using the WP form free version. I created a Footer widget in Elementor and have added the form to my Astra theme customizer footer. When I select the widget to edit, I can see the form, but it will not show up on the footer page itself. I also cannot figure out how to edit the background color of the form. It is defaulting to one of my theme colors, but I need to change it. However, it seems this is only a pro option?? I cannot send a link as the site isn’t live yet and a screen shot does not seem to load on here. If you email me, I can send you a screen shot.

    Hi Shannon,

    Thanks for reaching out! I’d be happy to help you with this.

    Regarding the issue, please check if you’re using the WPForms widget to add your form to Elementor. Sometimes issues can occur when using the Shortcode widget instead. You can find detailed steps in our guide here.

    To change your form’s background color, you can use this simple CSS snippet:

    .wpforms-form {
        background-color: #eee !important;
    }

    You can find more styling options in our beginner’s guide to styling WPForms. If you need help adding the CSS to your site, we have a helpful tutorial here.

    If you’re still experiencing issues after trying the WPForms widget, could you please share a video showing what’s happening? You can use a service like https://streamable.com/ to share the video with us. This will help us better understand the problem and provide further assistance.

    Thanks!

    I did use the WP Forms Widget. Thank you for the css code for changing background. I was able to complete that, but other coding did not work. I got an error message and had to back out and re-do the widget each time. I didn’t video that as I thought I could just center everything when I added to the footer, within the Design section in Customizer, however that doesn’t do anything either. My biggest concern right now (let’s solve this first) is that nothing is showing up in footer. i have included video here: https://streamable.com/ebnw6b

    Hi @shannonsadik,

    Thanks for sharing the video!

    I tried to reproduce the issue on my local site but wasn’t able to – you can see my test here: screencast.

    Looking at your form in Appearance ? Widgets, I’m wondering if you’re using WPForms Pro or Lite.

    If you have an active WPForms license:

    • Please submit a support ticket through your WPForms account dashboard
    • Our support team can then take a closer look at the issue for you

    If you’re using WPForms Lite:

    • This might be caused by a conflict
    • I’d recommend following WPBeginner’s troubleshooting guide to help identify and resolve the issue

    If you’re using WPForms Lite and still having trouble after trying the steps above, please tell me exactly how you added and customized the form in Appearance ? Widgets. This will help me trying to recreate the issue and give you better help.

    Thanks!

    To answer your question, I am using the Lite version. I just changed the background color with CSS provided by someone at WP Forms through my last thread in this conversation.

    Thank you for the video. That is exactly how I did it as well. I don’t know why mine is different from yours, but I have already been instructed to follow all of the troubleshooting steps you sent me and did all of them and am still getting this issue?? My issue is that you can clearly see the widget was added because a large container appears, but no details are showing. Is it possible it’s an issue with the theme, Astra?

    Hi @shannonsadik,

    Thanks for clarifying that you’re using WPForms Lite and providing those additional information. I understand how frustrating it must be to follow all the troubleshooting steps and still encounter issues.

    Since I can’t reproduce the issue on my end, it might be related to something in the widget area interacting with the Astra footer builder. To address the issue, please try this:

    1. Add your form to an empty widget area first
    2. Then add that widget area (with the form) to the footer builder
    3. See if the issue persists

    This might help us determine if there’s a conflict between the widget area and the footer builder.

    Please let me know if this works or if you’re still seeing the empty container!

    Thanks!

    Hm…I’m not sure what you mean. To create this, I did first add it to an empty widget titled Footer Bar Section 1 under Appearance>Widgets and then added the widget itself into the Footer under the theme customizer. I do not have any other widgets available to add it to under this theme. It is limited to just Sidebar, Header and another Footer Bar (which is currently being used).

    I created a different form that was then added on my site and had no issues adding it to a section on a page. I also added this same form to another section on a page on my site and had no issues. The issue seems to be with the footer alone. It is visible while in Appearance>widgets, and visible when clicked on in the footer section to design, but not visible in the footer itself. This could be a footer issue or an Astra issue because I created another Footer Bar Section widget that looks good in the widget under Appearance, but when added to the footer under theme customization does not look the same (images skew to different direction). Perhaps these are related to an Astra issue??

    Hi @shannonsadik,

    Thanks for providing such a detailed explanation of the issue and the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken!

    Could you please double-check that you are running the very latest versions of both WPForms and the Astra theme? Sometimes compatibility issues can arise if things aren’t fully up-to-date.

    If both WPForms and Astra are updated to their latest versions and the form still isn’t appearing correctly in the footer widget, it might be helpful to reach out to Astra theme support. Since you suspect it could be related to the theme, and you’re seeing other footer widget oddities, their team might have specific insights or solutions related to how Astra handles footer widgets. You can usually find their support forums here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/astra/

    Please keep us updated on how it goes, and let us know if you have any questions in the meantime!

    Thanks!
