• For my purpose, this in an excellent download plugin. Initially, I wasn’t happy the lack of design flexibility for the buttons. But once I resolved this issue, I was delighted. What the author doesn’t tell you is that you can use any button you like so long as you use the long URL as the button link, not the shortcode. I’m using the Avada theme with Visual Composer. The buttons match my theme and I can track any link I like. This plugin is simply perfect for my needs. I’m an architect, not a coder. I’m my opinion, those who have commented that this plugin is not simple & effective may be new to WordPress – its very simple.

I thought it best to tell you how to use any button with this plugin. As I said above, I’m using the Avada theme with Visual Composer. The long URL I use as the button link is this…

https://your website URL/?smd_process_download=1&download_id=3816 (the id number being the one issued by the plugin for your download. How simple is that? So easy!

    Cheers for that ??

I am sure someone will find your solution very helpful.

    Kind regards

Hi there, thanks so much for mentioning being able to use the long URL. However, when I use the URL as the link, clicking it takes me to a separate page that still shows the ugly green download button. From what you wrote above I figured using this URL would lead to the download directly. Am I missing something?
