I installed the GiftUp plugin and set everything up expecting to be able to use that service to offer gift cards for people to buy membership plans as both plugins use Stripe, but after quite a bit of work discover that the Simple Membership Stripe Checkout has nowhere to put discount or coupon codes; I then discovered that it might be possible with the ‘free’ Stripe Payments plugin, only to then find out that to use that for my already set up subscriptions I would have to buy an add on, something that I just can’t afford at present. In addition, the support forum and reviews for that plugin indicates that there are a few issues with it, even if I had the money for the add on required.

Is there any other way that I can use SM with GiftUp? Or an alternative for me to be able to offer promotions, discounts, coupons, gift cards etc? Could I embed the Stripe checkout in my site and have it still work with SM? I am happy to take on custom coding but not sure where to start with this. Possible to edit the checkout so it can accept coupon codes? Not really sure why this isn’t possible out of the box as it is a standard feature in Stripe.

Hi, unfortunately there is no coupon discount addon for SMP at present. This is in the developers to do list. However there is no eta for this addon.

    Kind regards.

OK, thank you for the quick response. I will have to find some sort of workaround, perhaps involving protected pages with cheaper plans, but it is quite cumbersome. I hope you add the coupon option sooner rather than later though. Or some alternative way to tie SM with Stripe so that customers can use coupons (e.g. however undesirable it is, leaving my site to go to Stripe where coupons can be used). I will mark this as resolved though.
