    Hello,

First off, love this plugin. It helped me out a lot.

However, I’m having some trouble getting it to change the Add to Cart Button Text in the Shop Loop for Simple products. For Variable products, it works great. But it just doesn’t seem to change the button text for Simple products. Any advice?

    Thanks!

    Hey there!

Thank you for contacting us about our WooCommerce Customizer plugin. I’m happy to help!

I gave this a quick go on my local test site and both options seem to be working okay so far, so I’d love to take a closer look at what might be going on here. Can you confirm for me that you’ve set new values for both options in the settings page at WooCommerce > Settings > Customizer?

IF so, would it be possible to let me know what you’re using so I can use those in my local testing, and would it also be possible to share a screenshot or URL of the pages that are working, and an example of a simple product that isn’t?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your response.

Regarding your first question, yes, we have set new values for both options in the settings page. Please see attached screenshot.

Here is an example URL of a variable product where it DOES work: https://bndlstech.com/product/terp-pen/

Here is an example URL of a simple product where it DOESN’T work: https://bndlstech.com/product/pride-bundle/

And lastly, here is an example URL of where these products exist in the Shop Loop (where I need the “Shop Now” button text to appear): https://bndlstech.com/category/vaporizers/

Thanks for your help! It’s much appreciated. ??

    Hey there!

I’m looking at your product loop now and I do see what you mean—the variable products say “Shop Now” on hover, but the simple products say “Read More.”

It doesn’t look like this text is a WooCommerce-provided default—I’m thinking it’s part of your theme instead, so our plugin wouldn’t know to target it. I’d recommend trying out a plugin like Say What, which will let you replace any text on your site. You can specifically target the text domain of your theme to replace this “Read More” text.

Would you please let me know if you’re able to get this working, or if there’s anything here I can help clarify?

    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

I installed the plugin that you suggested, Say What, but can’t seem to get it working correctly. I think my “text domain” may be wrong.

How can I find out what the correct text domain is? Or are you able to look at the source code and let me know what it is?

    Thanks for your help!! ??

    Hey there!

To find your theme’s text domain, you can follow these steps:

    – Go to Appearance → Theme Editor
    – In the file list, select Stylesheet (style.css)
    – In the comment block at the top of the file, you’ll see a line that begins with “Text Domain”

Could you let me know if you’re able to find your theme’s text domain and get this working with Say What?

    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hello,

I was able to find my text domain in the style.css file, which is “am”, but it’s still not working.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong. ??

    Hey there!

That is frustrating. Could you please take a screenshot of your Say What setup and upload it to an image sharing site so I can take a look?

    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your response. Yes, it’s very frustrating. ??

Below is a screenshot from my Say What setup.

And here is a screenshot from my Style.css file for the theme I’m using.

    Bobby

    Hey Bobby,

I’m not seeing anything obviously wrong with the way you have this set up. The way that Say What works is by taking advantage of WordPress’ localization features: most text strings in themes and plugins are wrapped in a localization function, so that they can be easily found and replaced for translation. I’m thinking this might not be the case with the “read more” string in your theme—it might be hard-coded instead.

If that’s the case, I’d recommend you contact the plugin developer to ask them for advice replacing that string with something else. If you’re comfortable working with code, you could also take a look through the theme code and make the change manually.

I’m sorry I don’t have more concrete advice here! Could you let me know if there’s anything else I can help answer for you?

    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

    Thanks for your response.

Yah, I have a feeling it’s hard coded somewhere, but I’ve been unsuccessful in finding the file that controls this text. And unfortunately, I no longer have contact with theme developer. ??

I suppose I’ll just keep looking through the code until I find it. But it’s just weird that the WooCommerce Customizer plugin works just fine on variable products, but doesn’t work for my simple products. So strange.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Bobby

    Hey Bobby!

I suspect WooCommerce Customizer isn’t working here for the same reason Say What didn’t—because the string in your plugin theme isn’t marked for translation. If you’re still trying to find where this string is located in your theme, I’d recommend downloading the whole theme folder over FTP so you can search all the files at once on your computer!

I’m going to mark this thread as “resolved” for now, but please feel free to reply here or open up a new thread if you run into any other issues!

    Take care,
    Patrick
