simple tags in excerpt not displaying

Is there a way to get tags to display in the post excerpts?

I added the font style to the css as follows:

.rpwe-summary em{
font-size: 12px;
font-family:’alleritalic’;
color:#999;
}

and it doesn’t show up ??
