Simple:Press Display Recent/Latest Posts in Sidebar?

I just implemented Simple:Press, but am surprised to find no easy way to display the most recent forum posts in a widget on the sidebar, or even on a page. Does anyone have any solutions for this? Seems like it should be fairly straightforward, but is certainly not.
