what are you talking about? wordpress settings – general allows you to choose the URL. If you could post pics i’ll provide screen shot

im telling you, who apparently does not know this, that those settings are NOT arbitrary, and unless your files are located in the proper place(s) .. changing those settings breaks things.

Perhaps you need to to a little fact checking, and seriously please dont pick a fight with me over this (my friendliness about this stops here) — Ive had a bad day, and I will have your head (as much as one can on a forum).

I third the motion; if you want WP in your root, i.e. mysite.com instead of mysite.com/wordpress/ , then follow either follow the directions in

or delete the wordpress folder and reinstall WP in your top directory. Don’t simply change the URL in admin.

As majority say at the top,
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory is the solution to this. I start giving to my wordpress installations a folder with custom name, as it help to keep it organize and improves security.
