Simplr theme and next_posts_link/previous_posts_link

I am having problems getting the “older posts”/”newer posts” links to work in my install of Simplr (v1.4 on WP v2.0.3). I am not including or excluding any categories. It is a straight install. I have also tried using the theme to show only a single post on the main page, as well as overriding. Neither way, however, helps the problem: both links simply show the first post/main page, without the post switching, but the URL changing to s/th like https://www.justkristin.com/page/2/
https://www.justkristin.com/page/3/
https://www.justkristin.com/page/4/
etc.
Does anyone have this same problem? Better yet, a fix? It works on my friend’s blog at https://www.powertrip.net/wagahaiThank you!
