I have a very simple 4 page, personal portfolio static website developed with WordPress, hosted on Bluehost that I built with Elementor. It has text, links, and still images. Converting to true static site (without databases) since I wasn’t using any of the dynamic features was my goal, and after some research looked to be easily accomplished using Simply Static. Upon running Simply Static on my published site (took about 2 minutes to run), the HTML files produced drops the font, layout, background graphics, and positioning of the items around the pages. Running Simply Static through Local on my computer will run for an hour plus without output. I submitted a support request directly to Simply Static via their website and preferred attachment transfer method (since expired since it was not looked at within 7 days) with more details two and a half weeks ago on March 12th. I have not been responded to. In the documentation I could find, Simply Static is advertised to work with Elementor. Or does it not convert sites properly that use this plugin?

    Hey @cbabcock1,

    thanks for reaching out!

    Support response:

We usually reply within 24 hours (despite weekends and public holidays).
I wonder if your ticket is either:

    • haven’t reached us (I just checked spam and searched for your username but couldn’t find anything
    • you don’t have a license (support via website is pro-only)

    The problem:

You might have to include the directory of the Elementor plugin in Simply Static -> Settings -> General -> Include -> Include addtional files and directories

Do the same with Elementor Pro (if you use it)

This should do the trick for you and ensures all necessary files (CSS/JS) for Elementor are included in the export.

@patrickposner Thanks for the quick response. I am not a Simply Static pro member, so that is why my ticket wasn’t read.

I see the place in the Simply Static settings you mentioned, but require a bit more direction as far as what to fill in. I understand that Elementor stores data just like most of the wordpress information, in the sql database tables. Because of this I’m confused regarding the referencing of extra directories or urls to include. I also didn’t know if you were referencing the local environment version (which doesn’t complete running) or the online version (which completes, but pages don’t display correctly). The local version folder structure is mirrored in my online version – there’s no elementor folder, the relevant info is stored in the site’s database files. Thanks for the help.
