• We use the free and pro version of The Events Calendar plugin on many sites we develop. It is super simple to use, has all the features my clients want and it is well documented. As developers, we find it simple to add and modify to our needs. Keep up the great work.

  • You rule, labcoatlackie! (And I love your username too.) I head up Modern Tribe’s support team and was so pleased to see this review when I logged in today – don’t let the two week delay in replying suggest otherwise.

This is a really informative, very useful bit of feedback. We’re always thrilled when someone takes the time to write a review and even moreso when that review is a full 5 stars. The fact that you’ve had enough confidence in the plugin to go PRO speaks volumes and makes me proud of the dev/support teams.

From one development shop to another: THANK YOU for your support. If we can ever do anything to improve the plugin so it’s more meaningful to you, let me know – we’re always listening and want to make sure future iterations of the codebase match up with your needs. Cheers!

Thank you Rob. We actually developed our own little plugin for displaying specific events from event categories in a grid on the site. We are still tightening it up but you can see the basic layout on this site.

    https://www.allsaintsbh.org/ (bottom of the page)

You can place a shortcode on any page and define what category and how many events to show. If you place a featured image on the event it will show in the grid. If no featured image, it will show the default calendar image.

    Example shortcode:
    [show-events count=”3″ category=”featured”]

We also threw in the same feature for standard posts as well just for fun.
    [show-posts count=”1″ category=”general”]

Thank you once again for an awesome plugin that is super easy to adjust to our needs and build off of.

Oh this is awesome! Thanks for the follow-up, labcoatlackie, and for sharing this example. This is looking awesome! We’ve got a similar solution out there in the form of our experimental Event Rocket add-on, which incorporates some basic shortcodes (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/event-rocket/) that we will be porting to the free version at some point. But it looks like your implementation here takes a slightly different approach. Very cool to see what you’ve done – and hopefully something that will serve as inspiration for other users looking to extend the plugin.

Is this something you plan on releasing here at dot-org? Let me know if so…we’d be happy to blast it out to our users if so ?? There is a lot of demand for shortcode support and I think just being aware of this solution would get a lot of people where they need to be.

Thanks again for your support and the feedback. If I can do anything more, just let me know.
