Yes… same issue for a new site I’m building on WordPress 5.0.3 and Contact Form 7 5.1.1.

Same issue with update and WordPress 5.0.3 — I reinstalled an older version of Contact Form 7, still using Captcha V2, and it works fine. I’ll hold off on updating any other sites….

This seems to be an issue with Captcha… when I remove the keys the forms will submit. Not a good solution, though…

Same behavior confirmed here: when using the new recaptcha3 keys, the contact form always triggers an error message.

Trying all possible recaching from both the server and the browser does not help.

See Contact Form 7 5.1.1 – theme needs to properly loads JavaScript in the footer area of each page.

Switch temporarily (nothing will be lost when you switch back) to a WP default theme to see if the problem goes away.

If this fixes the problem & you can’t get your theme fixed, you might try Contact Form 7 – reCaptcha v2. Once installed and configured it offers the same reCaptcha functionality you are used to in previous versions of Contact Form 7.

If using default theme doesn’t stop the error, you could have a general WP email sending problem. See If You Have Email Problems – most people that work carefully through this list of email sending issues are able to solve their particular problems.

@suesitesmartdesignscom, @2cats & @luigipulcini – see I have the same problem! Can I just reply to someone else’s post with “Me too”?.

Please open a new question. If you provide suitable info on the specific nature of your problem there, someone will generally be able to help you.

It’s worthy to note that things will also fail if the /recaptcha/api.js script is loaded deferred (maybe due to some optimization plugin or technique).
Wasted one hour scratching my head before I noticed this ??

Thanks to above, I think turning off defer JS from WP Rocket on the contact form page fixed this. Drove myself nuts for an hour or two yesterday and couldn’t figure it out why no messages would send due to spam restriction error. Trying to hide the damn pop out logo too in a way so as not to break it, it’s right in the way of my chat button.

@robin-ho and @thezedt THANK YOU! I was pulling my hair out. It was the deferred js setting in WP Rocket.
