I have created several pages and did not complete all of the Yoast SEO fields, in particular I left the META Description field empty. Now when I go back into those pages I can’t access the edit option for the Meta Description field. Although on other pages I have created and added SEO, including the Meta description I can see the edit option.

If I start a new page I can add meta description just fine.

How do I add meta description to pages that I have not previously added the meta description to?

    Please advise.

  • I just tried this on a draft page I had with no meta information and I can indeed add the meta just by simply hovering over the text to the right of the “Snippet Editor” and clicking on it. I assume you have tried that already? If you haven’t added a description before it should read: “Modify your meta description by editing it right here” in greyed out text. Using v3.0.6

Yes I have tried that – and I can see the meta description option for new and draft pages but not for pages that I created over a week or so ago. When I previously created them I would have been modifying the meta description and then left the field blank until I wanted to come back and add the correct description.

For now you can roll back to version 2.3.5. everything works fine there

Yeah, it’s my second attempt to upgrade to 3.X, and it’s not working. Rolling back to 2.3.5 as Vijay recommended.
