    PHP Version: 7.0.33
    Wordpress Version: 5.1
    Plugin Version: 4.37
    Is Pro User: NO
    Current Theme: MH Magazine

Can’t make an idea public because it throws errors now. I’ve removed any identifying content just for the sake of privacy.

This appears under “Status” on the list of ideas in the admin area:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in *********/public_html/*******/wp-content/plugins/ideapush/ideapush.php on line 909

When I save an idea without “Status” or “Board” set, it gives me no errors, but the item will not publish.

When I set those correctly to “Open” and the board is selected, I get this:

Warning: array_map(): Argument #2 should be an array in /*********/public_html/*********/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 2005

Warning: array_map(): Argument #2 should be an array in /*********/public_html/*********/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 2005

    Hi Paul,

The plugin has not been tested with this version of WordPress. However I updated then and I am not experiencing any issues. Can you make a screen video to show the issue? Have you tried disabling all plugins?

    Thanks,

Here’s a view of it happening. I did disable all plugins and then reenabled them because my site operating correctly is dependent on many of them.

    Hi Paul,

Ok you are creating the ideas from the backend not the frontend. See how you made your idea open and clicked update. When the page refreshed was the open radio button still selected or not?

    Thanks,

When I got back to the page, it was blank again.

And this happens regardless of where I create the ideas. Frontend or backend, both need to be edited to go live on the site, and both throw that error.

I can’t repeat the issue for ideas created on the frontend. I can recreate the issue for WordPress 5.1 with meta data not saving. The plugin has not been tested with 5.1 yet, so when I get time I will look into a fix. The fix will be implemented for pro users first and if there are no issues the free version will be updated. Thanks,

How can I make ideas go live from frontend submissions without it working?

I don’t understand what you mean.

You said that you can create ideas without the error showing up from the frontend.

Can you create an idea on the frontend, and then go in and publish the idea so that it is open for votes?

Yes, that’s the default behaviour…if you have decided to set ideas as pending for review from the board settings, then you can change the status using the quick edit instead of editing the idea on the idea edit page which could wipe the status and board as you are experiencing. If this doesn’t make sense, I suggest downgrading WordPress until a fix is pushed out, as I said the plugin hasn’t been tested with this version and this version is breaking this admin edit feature.

We have the same issue with WP5.1 and IdeaPush v4.37
    https://youtu.be/j0h7-eG95VM (with WP5.1)
    https://youtu.be/pV9HzqMiz1s (with WP5.0.3)
Saving after changing the status just makes the idea unpublished.

    Hi @kkoyan,

We have a fix for this already released for pro users. Pro users get all features and bug fixes first, once it meets this 2nd QA it will be released to free users – I don’t know when this will be. This is a lesson to not update WordPress unless your plugins have been tested with that version of WordPress. There are changes specific to version 5.1 in how taxonomy meta is dealt with. Thanks,

Just so we’re clear, and so that everyone else with the same issue knows, this topic will stay unresolved until the fix is pushed to all users. That way people won’t think the issue is resolved for everyone when it hasn’t been yet.

    Dear developer,

My opinion is to rethink your strategy, giving pro users extra features and quick support is a normal business practice. however, beside the fact that bug fixes are usually tested on free users before risking to break things for pro users, giving free users a broken plugin while you already have a fix, may drive users looking to test your plugin away to other solutions.

I say that with all respect to your effort in this plugin, but not being able to moderate the entries is a big thing, I would guess most people here agree that this qualifies this plugin as being broken for now (and to an undetermined date).

If anyone thinks I’m wrong, I’m willing to listen to your point of view.

    Hi @aliq80,

    Thanks for your feedback.

I have spent months on this plugin and the free version comes action packed with features. It goes far beyond anything else for free. So be grateful for what you get for free. I don’t make much money at all even from the pro version. I need to pay bills just like everyone else. You haven’t developed anything for me for free, so why should you expect anything in return? This is why it’s important to support developers, and yes that means buying the pro version. The people who pay for the pro version are what keeps the plugin alive for the free users.

Also YOU SHOULD ALWAYS READ THE COMPATIBILITY OF A PLUGIN WITH WORDPRESS BEFORE UPGRADING WORDPRESS. DON’T ASSUME PLUGINS WILL “JUST WORK”. YOU NEED TO DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE BEFORE UPDATING, THIS IS WHY WORDPRESS ALWAYS SAYS TAKE A BACKUP FIRST.

With that said I do plan on releasing an update for this soon although I still need to resolve some issues around this functionality that you are talking about.
