Single category page format

Hi,
would like to display evens within a category in a list format …

what i have so far is:
Categories Page:
Categories list header format
Categories list item format
Categories list footer format

for all 3 >>> #_CATEGORYLINK

Single category page format i have >>>>

<h2 style="text-align: center;"><strong>#_CATEGORYNOTES</strong></h2>
<h3>Upcoming Events</h3>
<ul>>#_CATEGORYNEXTEVENTS
</ul>

which i was hope to display events for that category in a nice list format … but instead all evens are on a single line … very hard to read … see screenshot https://i63.tinypic.com/2j61u8n.png
