Single Character in Last Name field…

To make things simple we’ve told people they only need to write the first letter of their last name in the Last name field.
However the program rejects this saying “A first and last name must be specified”
I can’t seem to find anywhere in the Code how to change it to allow one character.
Help needed as Invites just went out and people trying to RSVP!
ps. I knew this wedding planning was going to easily…
