I have a lot of recurring events on my website with a few single events thrown in the mix. I just went to look at my calendar and the single events are no longer listed, but the recurring events are all properly displayed.

When I go to re-make the single event, the url has “-2” at the end, meaning to me that the system recognizes that there was another instance of the event.

    Any ideas?

  • WordPress will always add a -2 (or higher number) to permalinks if there’s another post / page with the same slug in the system. To free up the slug, you need to delete the post / page and then delete it from Trash.

How are you displaying your calendar?

Thanks. I know how the -2 works and I don’t mind that they are in the permalinks.

My problem is that the original event posts are gone. When I take the -2 out of the URL, I get a 404 – Page not found error.

I think I may have found something. I looked and all of my single events were in the trash. I am not sure why they were in there, but I restored them everything seems to be back to normal.
