    Will do.

And re: the WYSIWYG …. I’m confused. I’m not seeing what the two examples are meaning to tell me.

I was thinking that with it OFF, I should see every little bracketed bit of code, the html coding inserted for commas and ellipses, etc. and the ‘<br> tags and so on. I never see that stuff.

But if I click the button for a “more” tag, I see that bracketed code inserted.

OK. On to index page and removing those br tags.

    Well,that’s it for tonight.

I’ve got it to validate. However, single post pages still are not calling up the sidebar or footer.

Haven’t checked in Firefox to see if the white background is showing up or whether the whole page is graying out still.

    Tomorrow.

Moshu, thanks for the help and encouragament.

FF here: the main page (index) has the white background.

    All done. All issues resolved.

The XHTML tutorial was helpful, as was lots of googling “how do I do x in XHTML?” And as was lots of just getting dirty with it and trying things.

Ultimately solved the sidebar not showing up in single posts by copying everything from the main index template (which WAS showing the sidebars fine) after the “get post” function into the singlepost.php.

Whatta lotta lotta. This support forum is possibly the coolest thing about WordPress.

Now…on to redesigning things — like the out of control categories. Not today, but within a couple days, I promise.
