Single posts not indexed and gone from Google after update! Please help!

  • hi everyone,

    I have a big problem indexing my blog after a major update.

    I have indexed from I believe 2.3.1 to 2.8.4. The blog was not updated for a 18 months.. Someone updated it for me lately, but ever since, my single posts are nowehre to be found in google and I had an excellent position before the update.

    Google still finds my homepage and some of my stronger posts from the past, but new posts are not indexed, or may be indexed, but nowhere to be seen in the first 5 pages of results.

    If anypne has any idea what happens to a WP blog after update and why my single posts are not indexing correctly after the update, please let me know!!

    You have the exact same meta description on every page. This is very bad for SEO and will hurt your Google indexing and ranking. Check your SEO plugin settings to have it generate unique dynamic meta descriptions on every page.

    Also, I’d recommend that you sign up for Google Webmaster Tools, verify your site, and then check back in a few days to see if they find any other problems.

    This is actually pretty weird because I have 2 meta descriptions on each page: one is the regular one and the other from the All in one SEO plugin, which I always put something different.

    How come I have 2 meta descriptions? ??

    I verified with Google and they index only 1 of my 643 url`s in the sitemap, and I dont understand why.

    Please if you have a solution, I am willing to pay, this is pretty bad ?? I really had a 3-fold drop in visitors numbers since the update ??

    Your pages are in the Google index, but the identical meta descriptions (in your theme’s header.php?) are killing your rankings:

    Get rid of the static meta description right away.

    Perfect, I really hope this is the problem!!!! Didnt see it myself, and I call myself an expert mwahah ??

    But obviously, I have lost all meta descriptions of the posts before the update, which is probably not to be reversed, is it?

    It takes my tagline of the blog as meta description and not the all in one seo description, how come?

    Hi iridiax. I have the same problem. Can you help me sort out what’s going on with my site. I used to have 99% of my posts indexed by google. Now only 5% are indexed. The de-indexing of my pages started after I upgraded my WordPress from 2.6XXX to 2.8.5. I also remembered I upgraded my All-in-one SEO. Thanks in advance.
