Single Product Image Caption

  • Latest Woocommerce version here and I’d like to add image caption to the main product image. Seems like I’ve found code to do everything except this :). So as an example, my client has products with many variations, so they’d like the main product image to show a caption below it (like any wordpress caption) that says:

    Shown in oak with natural finish

    Fairly experienced here with code and typically use code snippets, but open to a small, light plugin that can do this as well.

    Just to be clear, the client wants the caption to appear on the product image that shows on the single-product page. The caption shows on the lightbox image if you click on the product photo, but not on the product photo itself.

    Goodness, am I the first person that ever needed this? Seems like it would be a fairly common request. I’ve tried plugins that add the caption to page/post featured images and they work on regular pages and posts, but not on the product image in woocommerce. I’ve seen this done on many, many e-commerce sites but not sure if any of those were using woo.

    Yeah, I thought the same thing. I do some limited coding but I haven’t been able to get it to work, so that’s why I reached out.

    I would like an answer to this as well. I need to show photo credits, and it is pretty important that they show up.

    I thought the same thing, I want this option. I told the client it would be no problem, cause I figured a lightweight plugin would be available. Now I’m going to have to dive into some development time…

    If anyone has a quick fix before I dive in, I would love to hear it haha.

    Anyone found a solution to this? I also need to add credits to the pictures I use and haven’t found anything to do so.

    I just left my template files in the child theme in place, though I get the notice constantly that they might not work. So far they DO work.
