• Hi there
I’ve trawled through the other Support Questions to try and find solutions to a couple of issues that I’ve encountered.

I have checked that all is setup correctly for the install and it seems to be. I have had to remove the mu_plugin folder from the root as it conflicted with the domain_mapping plugin within the wp_content/plugins directory.

After activating the plugin on a test site under my Multisite Network, it tells me ‘Please set the IP address or CNAME of your server in the site admin page’.

Clicking the ‘site admin page’ link takes me to my Main Website and I have no Domain Mapping Options

Perhaps a side affect of the last WordPress upgrade, but the Super Admin User Menu as described in the instructions has vanished, and there are no other options in the Domain Mapping plugin or the ‘My Sites’, so am unable to configure anything.

I have a URL/Domain ready to go in my CPanel, residing as a parked Domain and obviously I want to use this as the domain for the site(example.com -> networked site) as opposed to the current https://www.example.com/networksite/.

I hope my rambling makes some sense ??

If you can give some advice on this that would be appreciated greatly.

    Thanks

    Shane

Further to this – abit more of a look I can see that the ‘Please set the IP address or CNAME of your server in the site admin page.’ link is trying to access a php file that I think is not in existence; wpmu_admin.php I have redownloaded the domain mapping plugin to see if this php file is in there and it is not. So ultimately when I try to access the Map Domain Admin page, it’s resulting in a 404 and taking me to the Homepage of my main site (which my 404 Redirect plugin does for all 404’s).

Without the wpmu_admin.php it cannot access the dm_admin page.

    What to do from here?

    Anyone?

You need to network activate domain mapping. The domain mapping admin page is in network admin (on the main site).

Thanks Ron. Yep I’ve done that, it’s activated for all sites on the network (under Main Site / as Super Admin). Just incase; I deactivated and reactivated again – but still the ‘Please set the IP address or CNAME of your server in the site admin page’ link results in a 404 ??

Also rechecked the setup files – all seems good in there too.

Can you find the Network Admin -> Settings -> Domain Mapping screen?

    Hey Ron,

    Happy Xmas!!

Unfortunately, nope. There is no Domain Mapping options under the ‘Settings’ in the Main Network Admin area. There is under ‘Tools’, but this of course tells you to setup Domain Mapping for the site(s).

The link within the Tools option that it is trying to go to is: wpmu-admin.php (Domain Mapping admin page). This results in a 404 as the page does not exist. I’ve tried to to find the elusive .php within the WordPress Domain Mapping plugin and the entirety of the WordPress installation. Doesn’t seem to be there – so I am not sure if this is generated in some way after an Activation?

The plugin is activated under Networked Sites for all sites.

    Thanks!

You definitely have something wrong with your install. wpmu-admin.php was the network admin dashboard page in WordPress MU (pre WP 3.0).

    Try reinstalling your WP files.

Secondly, by network admin I do not mean the dashboard of your main site. There is a link to Network Admin in the toolbar (under the My Sites menu). Once you are in the Network Admin area there is a Settings menu.

Hi Ron, Happy New Year! So over the festive season, I have reinstalled all domain Mapping files and given the Domain Mapping settings a go (you were right, in the Main Site’s dashboard under Super Admin) – but still the same results. It’s odd.

Placing the IP Address of the webserver and the punycode of the cname bears no joy. It infact wipes clean all details after saving and exiting the Super Admin Dashboard.

You are most welcome to have a look at it if you want to. I can supply the login creds etc. my email address is mr.shanecoleman (at) gmail.com

    Thanks

you were right, in the Main Site’s dashboard under Super Admin

The Super Admin menu was renamed to Network Admin in WP 3.1. I do not have any installs that old. You are probably not going to find anyone to help you unless you update to a more current version of WP.
