• Hi All,

I’m just finished building a site for a friend but it’s so awfully slow to load. I’ve taken off all the inactive plugins and only have the ones that I absolutely need on the site. It’s slow to work on in admin pages but even slower to load the site pages on another device. I’ve taken down the heavier images and replaced them but there are still huge problems with the speed. Can anyone advise?

I’m on WP version 3.9.1, using Weaver II theme 2.1.10 and GoDaddy hosting – economy windows hosting with Plesk.

    Thanks,
    Aisling

  • Did you try to change the theme, just to rule out that your problem isn’t theme related?

I have the exact same issue with my website https://www.hrsuplidora.com
Wordpress 3.9.1, using EXELERO theme, and Ipage hosting.

I fixed most of the issues (like the ones mentioned by Olivier) using “PageSpeedInsights.com” suggestions and got much better, but still is terribly slow.

    Suggestions will be welcomed.

I’m having the same exact problem. I can’t seem to get my admin to load after I logged in on my Mac but with my PC at my workplace, I can log in, load and post easily. It’s been going on like this for the past one week.

I’m on WordPress 3.9.1 and GoDaddy hosting with ProPhoto5 theme.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

I’m having this issue too but I’m maybe suspecting an underlying problem with 3.9.1 WP. I have two sites, one fully running on an older version with no slowdown. The other is currently in construction with no content and both front and back end are painfully slow. Both sites use the same host, so I can at the moment only put it down to the machine running my second site is dying or WP 3.9.1 has issues.

@miha, I’m not sure I can change the theme at this stage. I’m just about finished the site and the deadline is approaching and to start all over with a new theme would be a nightmare. I’ll contact the theme developer to see if they had issues.

Your site will not be lost if you temporary activate another theme, for instance Twenty Fourteen. You can also make a backup of a database before a switch. I would recommend you to activate Twenty Fourteen, check out if there is any difference in speed and then activate back Weaver II. If there is a difference, you’ll at least know it’s something that you need to fix in your theme. On the other hand, I doubt that problem lies in your theme.
