Site Attacks

  • Hi,

    Using a plethora of tools in order to keep the install safe.

    However, whilst in the main all is fine I am seeing an unfolding issues.

    I’ll take one example….

    I get a ton of repeating hourly login attacks from both India and Pakistan and whilst WF does its best to block stop them, they of course are dragging my server down.

    Okay so I use WF to Block, Ban etc etc but here’s the problem and maybe some sage of WP can shed some light on how to combat the problem; but I suspect its a case of ‘living with it’

    These attack attempts change/rotate their IP to other Countries which means anyone/genuine visitor from that Country cannot view the site as it has been block all because of some numbnut in India and/or Pakistan.

    So, how can this be combatted please?

    Just let WF block them and move on with life. Seriously.

    If this is your own server, use something like fail2ban or OSSEC to dynamically block them at a level above WP & PHP.
