My site is suddenly broken. Disabling WooCommerce by renaming the plugin folder to “_woocommerce” brings the wp-admin back again, but if i try to activate WooCommerce again the site is broken.

No specific error is displayed if i turn debug mode to on.

Using PHP 8.1.21 on a Windows Apache Server.

Deactivated all plugins and switched to theme Twenty Nineteen, doesn’t helped.

If I use WooCommerce 8.2.1 with WordPress 6.4.3 on my local installation everything is fine.

  • our site broke today too. woocommerce plugin the culprit. We can not even get in to the dashboard

Unsure if this will help – but I had excatly the same thing happen today.
I spoke to my host who rolled back the latest WordPress version (6.5) for me and that got me back in. Might be worth a try anyway.
I’m going to wait for an applicable patch from WordPress before trying again.
    Good luck!
    xx

thank you community . We got back in.

The fix….go to the server files, rename the plugin folder to deactivate all plugins. This got us in. Then start reactivating one plugin at a time.

If it works on the local server but not on the live server it would indicate that there is something different on the live server itself, not WordPress or WooCommerce.

First thing to check is the PHP version and also that the required extensions are installed and active.

@seank123: it didn’t say it works on the local server. On the local server I run the downgraded configuration that works.

The problem appeared suddenly, i have nothing changed, so i assume the problem has to do with very new versions of WordPress/WooCommerce and automatic update.

Also, I run another live server with the exact same configuration, the problem occured there likewise and at the same time.

    Hello @chrisiwien,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re experiencing.

Given that your local installation with WooCommerce 8.2.1 and WordPress 6.4.3 is working fine, it could be related to your server setup. On your local installation, please try to update WooCommerce to the latest version 8.7.0 to see if this causes any issues.

Also ensure that your server meets the minimum requirements for running WooCommerce. Additionally, check for any server-specific settings or restrictions that might be causing the issue. You can read more on the minimum requirements here.

If the problem persists, please feel free to contact us again with System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support, and we’ll do our best to assist you further.

    Thanks for your answer.

I looked around on my local installation (xampp), and find in the Apache error log this line: “child process xxx exited with status 3221225477” – that error seems to be related to running out of ressources.

I rised the value of “ThreadsPerChild” from 150 to 550 in apache/conf/extra/httpd-mpm.conf, and the value of “ThreadStackSize” to 8388608 (Section “<IfModule mpm_winnt_module>”) and restarted the Apache server.

Locally that helped, now WordPress 6.5 and WooCommerce 8.7 are working, as far as I see.

The problem occur on Windows Machines with Apache Webserver, i use xampp locally, online Windows Server 2019 and 2022 with Apache for Windows, installed manually. I will try this solution later on the online servers.

Perhaps you place a note on the WooCommerce server requirement page which address this (Windows/Apache related?) problem.

If further troubles arise, i will contact WooCommerce-Support as you proposed.
