I’ve used this plugin happily for a few years.

When I updated the plugin today, the site broke and now I only get this message:
“Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/41/8389841/html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/custom-sidebars/customsidebars.php on line 144”. I can’t access any of the front end or the WordPress admin area.

I tried updating the PHP version (it’s 7.4 now) but that didn’t fix it. I tried to rename the plugin folder but still get the message. I don’t think there is a cacher working but can’t access my wordpress admin. How can I get access to my admin again so I can figure out the problem?

    thanks!

If you renamed the plugin folder and the error is still showing (and I can confirm it is) then it can only be cache ??
As far as the error goes – it’s because you’re running an older version of PHP that we no longer support. Sorry.

Thanks – Which version of PHP should I be using? Also, do you know how I can disable a cache in this situation? There isn’t one on the server so it may be a plugin also – but I disabled those.

    At least PHP v7.4
I can’t give any precise advice about cache as it’s really different from one hosting company to another. Try looking at their docs or rename the whole plugins folder.
