• Hey there,

If you go to my site to check out what’s wrong, ignore the message on the homepage, I’m in the middle of something right now which actually makes it really sketchy I’m having tech problems. Thanks for your help regardless.

Last night I tried to open my website after not being on for a couple of days to receive the “There is a critical error” page. After going onto my email to check the link accessing the specialized admin page, the link was invalid and wasn’t emailed to me any further. This was the error that caused it.

An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 222 of the file /var/www/wptbox/wp-content/themes/hello-elementor/functions.php. Error message: Cannot redeclare sa_custom_params() (previously declared in /var/www/wptbox/wp-content/plugins/code-snippets/php/snippet-ops.php(505) : eval()’d code:1)

Unable to get onto my site, I attempted to install a backup. As this was loading in, I realized there was some new material I had put on the website that wasn’t on the old backup. So once the old backup successfully loaded, I tried to reupload the new backup that was saved from the error. At this point that backup has been “loading in” for over 10 hours so I’m assuming it’s permanently corrupted.

Meanwhile, the current backup that I do have running is getting error after error. The plugins won’t update, images aren’t loading, and the pages that are fully flushed out in the editors are popping out with broken fonts and colors.

The error seemed to be running through a child theme I’m using, would a change of theme possibly help this situation? At this point not only is my site broken, but my WP Admin pages are broken too.

I can add pictures or anymore information if it’d help.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Just out of curiosity, did you recently update to Elementor 3.10.0? It says this plugin’s compatibility with the update is unknown. Has caused me a LOT of trouble.

It had nothing to do with Elementor updating unfortunately. I wish that’s all it was. The themes function.php file had a error in line 222. My function.php was basically an empty document. It very much looks like the plugin Code Snippets was used to insert a line of code which caused a general breakdown of the entire child theme I had built my website off of.

The original backup that this occurred on wasn’t restoring after about 10 hours of “loading in”, right now I’m attempting to pull off the files at least, to save parts of my website that were created within the last week but not backed up.
