    Hi,

I’m not sure where to post about my issue, or what to post, but I noticed another user posting about broken Roles for this plugin…so thought I’d give it a go here.

I just noticed that my site seems completely broken in the admin back-end. No previously created Roles are visible for example when I just go to list them via this plugins admin, or when I go to restrict post/page visibility eg via Press Permit, there are no roles listed for post visibility/post editing limiting.

Any ideas how I start to investigate this?

    Kind regards

    YikYak

    Hi @yikyak

    Thanks for using PublishPress Capabilities.

Can you talk us through why you think this is an issue with the Capabilities plugin? For example, did the problem start immediately after installing PublishPress Capabilities?

    Hi Steve,

I have no idea what is causing the problem. My sites (I’m on WordPress Multisite) are quite mature, several years standing, linked to teaching.

I’m afriad I only just noticed a problem today, so it will be related to an update I guess, but I have no idea what of, eg a plugin, or of WordPress core etc, who knows?

I have not had to admininster my sites (eg I have not even created new content, never mind new users or roles) in quite a few weeks, so I’m afrad that’s a lot of possible updates to consider. The sites do auto updates.

I only came here associating the Roles with things like Publish Press Permissions and this plugin. This one (Capabilities) seemed to have recent users also reporting issues (unlike PPP I think), and I have found the plugins teams to be helpful in the past.

So I’m generaly asking for some help. I don’t know for sure what has caused the issues. And I don’t really know how to start figuring it out.

    Kind regards

    YikYak

@yikyak Thanks for the detailed explanation.. You might have more luck in the general WordPress support forums. Our team here does focus on specific problems with the PublishPress Capabilities plugin.

@wordmatej Please open your own thread. Please try and share as many details as @yikyak. That’s a great example of how to post for support.

Perhaps I misreported after all. When I say “no roles showing” what I really meant was that no custom roles (created with this Capabilities plugin) are showing, the default WordPress roles (Author, Editor, Subscriber etc) show up in the normal way for me to deny access to posts etc using PPP.

hi, I deleted plugin and loaded again and it works.

I think I already had that version 2.9.0 (if it updated in the plugin repository earlier today)

    It didn’t fix the issue.

I haven’t (to the best of my knowledge) deleted any core roles ever, and certainly not “recently”

Ooops. Sorry, I see now that was for wordmate.

@yikyak thanks. This is an update. It’s not the same as the official release earlier today

@yikyak @wordmatej. Thanks for the reports. Version 2.9.1 is available now and that has the official version of this fix.

@stevejburge still not working for me, no obvious change with this version.

@yikyak That’s possible. I don’t think your original problem was related to PublishPress Capabilities? It was more of a general question?

Ah, OK, as you @’d me in the notification, I thought it was a fix for me. I will try and find some help elsewhere, didn’t quite mange that yet, and also perhaps try some rollbacks.
